Federation Announces Mae Volen Senior Center to Manage Adolph and Levis Alzheimer and Adult Day Care Center

The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County has announced that as of July 1, 2009, Mae Volen Senior Center, Inc. will, in partnership with the Federation, begin day to day management of the Adolph and Rose Levis Alzheimer and Adult Day Care Center (ADC) on the Federation’s campus west of Boca Raton.

Woodfield Families Raise Nearly $9,000 in Food and Gifts to Address Local Hunger

Called to action by the economic challenges facing local families and individuals, residents of Woodfield Country Club and Woodfield Hunt Club in Boca Raton came together in a powerful response. Led by Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County volunteers, “Woodfield Feeds the Hungry” raised nearly $9,000 in food and monetary contributions throughout the month of May – enough to feed 350 people for a full month.

College-Bound Learn to Address Anti-Semitism and Anti-Israel Sentiments at 9th Campus Advocacy Forum

College-bound teens from throughout the South Palm Beach County community spent a recent evening learning to address anti-Semitic and anti-Israel rhetoric and activities they may encounter on campus. The event was “College, Jewish & You: R U Rdy?”, the 9th Annual Campus Advocacy Forum sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County.

Robert worked part-time to subsidize the meager Social Security income that he and his wife receive. When Robert’s wife became ill with cancer he could not leave her at home alone. He quit his job at Publix and by the end of the month he came up short. They couldn’t afford to pay for food, prescriptions and the electric bill. As soon as Robert asked for help from Ruth Rales Jewish Family Service, one of Federation’s four founding agencies, they immediately brought him food from its kosher food pantry; gave him Publix food coupons; assigned him a therapist, gave him a gift card to a nearby drugstore and paid his electric bill.
